Three Grading Companies, Three Very Different Slabs

PSA, CGC, and Beckett dominate the modern Pokémon grading market. Each uses a different case design, and those design differences matter a lot when you put the slab on a wall.

PSA: The Industry Standard for Display

The PSA slab is the thinnest and most uniform of the three. Its clean red label, minimal branding, and centered card window make it the easiest to frame. It's also the most collected, which is why virtually every custom slab frame on the market — Grail Frames included — is sized for PSA first.

CGC: Bold, Colorful, Bigger

CGC slabs are slightly thicker and have a taller label with more color. They look striking in a frame but require a deeper interior cavity. On display, CGC's holographic label catches light and reads well from across a room — great for statement pieces, less great for subtle gallery walls.

Beckett: The Deep Case

Beckett (BGS) uses the thickest case of the three, with sub-grade windows along the side. It photographs beautifully but is the trickiest to frame — the depth means many off-the-shelf shadow boxes don't accommodate it, and the side sub-grades either need to be highlighted or hidden depending on your aesthetic.

Which Looks Best?

For pure display, PSA wins on versatility. The thin profile, clean label, and universal frame availability make it the collector's choice for wall art. CGC is a close second when you want the label to be part of the visual story. Beckett is unbeatable if you value the sub-grade breakdown and don't mind a bulkier frame.

Matching the Frame

PSA's red label pairs cleanly with any interior color. Whichever grading company you collect, the frame should complement the label, not fight it.
